Deferral Of Tax:

The amount that you contribute towards providing for retirement, up to 15% in certain instances, may be deducted from your income before tax is calculated. This has the effect of you being taxed on a lower amount - your actual income less your retirement contributions. It does not mean that you will not have to pay tax on that money.
