National Budget 2010

On 17 February 2010 the new Finance Minister, Pravin Gordhan delivered his first National Budget Speech and urged citizens to “create your own future” and in so doing said we must all be prepared to do things differently going forward.

 

The focus areas to encourage growth are as follows:

 

Reduce unemployment amongst the youth;

Support labour intensive industries;

Sustain high levels of investment and raise our savings levels;

Improve State performance and effectiveness;

Keep inflation low;

Raise competitiveness, to increase investment and trade opportunities.
