ENS, Africa’s largest law firm has become the only firm in Africa to be awarded the highest accolade in the Intercontinental-Finance Magazine’s (ICFM) 2012 Continent Awards.

The ICFM awards are considered to be one of the most prestigious business honours globally, with nominations and research conducted by the ICFM team and winners selected on the basis of offering the best specialist advice to clients on a consistent basis.

ENS was named the “Premier South African Multi-disciplined law Firm – Africa”. According to the magazine, Premier status is awarded to firms that have consistently excelled in the industry due to continued quality of advice, customer service and business prowess.

According to Piet Faber, Chief Executive at ENS, the award is a significant achievement for the firm which operates on a unique business model whereby practitioners are encouraged to become specialists in their chosen area of expertise.

“Instead of recruiting a couple of dedicated practitioners operating within one or two niche areas, we have chosen to develop over 450  dedicated departments which each cater to a different specialist area. Moreover within each of these departments, there are teams of practitioners who have in-depth experience in one or more of the focus areas making up that specialisation.

We are very proud of this award as it celebrates our specialised, multi-disciplined approach. Being the only African firm to achieve this status also positions us favourably for expansion into Africa which is a focus for us in 2012,” he says.
