Compliance for Insurance people, by Insurance people
Pretium Services specializes in the delivery of a ‘hands on’ FAIS and FICA compliance process to the Insurer, Underwriting Manager, Administrator and Broker in either the Short Term or Long Term environments. Compliance is achieved by face to face interactions; whilst we have many generic work flow, quality control systems and documents to offer we certainly do not believe in compliance by computer or by prescriptive systems being imposed. We rather aim to ensure you achieve and maintain compliance in a process you help develop and are comfortable with. Our service also provides access to a specialist labour consultant.
We can deliver a service either as a Compliance Officer or on a pure consultancy basis where FSPs wish to act as their own Officer.
We are also able to assist with internal quality control programs for all classes of business or full technical audits on the short term side.
Provided suitable data can be supplied we can also do a statistical analysis of a book of business as well as assist with rating development.
The two directors are Bryan Thomas BSc Hons (Wits) and Craig Ormrod FIISA who started the business in October 2003 with one client and an idea. There are now 6 people in the team and a fairly wide spread operation with an existing client base in the greater Johannesburg and Pretoria areas, Durban, Bloemfontein/Kimberley and Cape Town. Whilst we service Durban from Johannesburg we have resident staff based in Bloemfontein and Cape Town.
All the staff have insurance experience, in fact we have a combined experience of nearly 100 years in the areas of broking, insurer and UMA’s and in all the major disciplines including claims, underwriting, marketing, product development and management at both branch and regional levels. In addition Craig is a council member of the Society of Fellows and active in the educational committee of the IISA. We are also members of the Compliance Institute of South Africa (CISA). We are a registered compliance practice with the FSB under licence number CO 363.
Our skills lie in the insurance realm of financial services, thus we have a large number of Underwriting Managers/Administrators, small Insurers and Brokers of all sizes as clients. These clients range from a number of one man operations through to companies with a regional office structure and insurers.
