Sanlam takes two at annual FIA awards

Sanlam, one of South Africa’s leading financial services groups, once again walked away with two awards at this year’s prestigious FIA (Financial Intermediaries Association of South Africa) annual awards ceremony, held in Johannesburg last night. Taking two categories for the second year running, Sanlam won ‘investment product supplier of the year – retail investment (single premium)’ and ‘employee benefits product supplier of the year’.

The awards are aimed at recognising insurance product providers that are rated tops in the annual Intermediary Satisfaction Benchmark/ Research Survey, conducted by the independent research company, Bluestream Research. More than 2 700 FIA intermediary members rated their preferred product providers based on the FIA’s main criteria of product quality, service quality and relationship quality.

Kobus Vlok, chief executive of Sanlam Personal Finance (SPF) Distribution, says: “We are extremely honored to have won this award a second time. This is a significant achievement for the business and confirms that Sanlam remains the most popular custodian of investment businesses.”

Richard van Dijk, General Manager of Sanlam Employee Benefits (SEB) Distribution, says that Sanlam is proud to be associated with an organisation that recognises its efforts and believes that this is one of the most credible, independent and objective awards in the industry. “Sanlam takes this award very seriously and will continue to work toward the criteria set out by the FIA, to grow in relationship with our brokers and strengthen our partnership with the FIA,” van Dijk adds.

Included in the single premium investment range are single premium- endowment policies, guaranteed investments, discretionary and non-discretionary linked investments (including offshore investments) and collective investments. Vlok says this means that, amongst others, Sanlam’s successful Cumulus product range and the diverse options in its Glacier International product range were recognized as leading and innovative.

“Maintaining a competitive edge in this market means that product flexibility and investment choice are no longer enough. Sanlam’s research shows that aspects such as cost structures, reliable support and ongoing service and communication are crucial to keep clients and intermediaries satisfied with our service. This motivates our commitment to continue to deliver to our clients and brokers,” concludes Vlok.
