Towers Watson hires Coenraad de Jager

Key appointment to underpin growth of its Risk Consulting and Software business.

 

JOHANNESBURG, LONDON, NEW YORK  - Towers Watson (NYSE, NASDAQ:TW), a leading global professional services company, has hired Coenraad de Jager in a newly created role to bolster its Risk Consulting and Software (RCS) business in southern Africa. He joined in September as a senior consultant and will report to Lisa Pines.

 

Coenraad is an actuary with fifteen years of experience in the insurance industry. In his career in the Absa Group he headed up three insurance companies and inter alia established ABSA idirect.

 

Lisa Pines, South Africa RCS practice leader at Towers Watson, said: “Coenraad brings a strong track record and shares our ambition to grow the business significantly by offering our world-leading consulting and software services to southern African and multinational clients. We are delighted that he has joined us to take on this exciting new role.”

 

Paul Morris, Regional Manager, EMEA for Towers Watson said: “This is a key appointment for us at a time when we are strengthening our relationship with Fifth Quadrant and building our presence in southern Africa.”

 

Towers Watson recently increased its shareholding in Fifth Quadrant from 20 per cent to 40 per cent and has agreed to increase this shareholding to in excess of 50 per cent by year end. Towers Watson also recently acquired EMB, a non-life consulting and software company with offices in South Africa, to expands its consulting and software offering to non-life insurers in southern Africa and around the world. Together Fifth Quadrant and Towers Watson employ over 80 staff in South Africa and have offices in Johannesburg and Cape Town.
