For the first time, the more than 100 000 South Africans employed in the South African insurance industry will be able to view, in real-time, events occurring at South Africa’s largest annual insurance conference, the IISA, FIA and SAIA Conference, taking place at Sun City from 10 – 13 June 2012. This conference is regarded as being the most important event in the local insurance industry calendar.
Thanks to the innovative use of technology by CIB Insurance Administrators and Cover magazine, those delegates unable to attend the conference will be able to view presentations, interviews and panel discussions from the conference via live streaming from CIB’s website, www.cib.co.za. The page will also be available on the website for a few months following the conference.
Commenting on the initiative, Frans Nel, Head of Marketing for CIB, said “CIB regards itself as being at the forefront of change in the industry and we are proud to be bringing the conference into the digital age.
“Having joined forces with Cover Magazine to stream the event on our website, we are making the conference accessible to more than 100 000 people who work in the insurance industry, enabling them to gain the same insight as those attending. From a training perspective, you could say that we are also providing a service in terms of helping people in the industry to increase their broader knowledge and skills levels.”
In addition to the actual sessions being broadcast, interviews with guest speakers and other industry stakeholders will be conducted on their exhibition stand, which will feature a ‘CIB LIVE’ set. “The entire production is being produced and broadcast from Sun City by a crew of 12 technicians, production and editing specialists. Podcasts of the talks and the interviews will be available to be viewed after each talk takes place and will be on the site for at least 6 months after the conference,” said Nel.
“CIB is passionate about bringing the future of insurance to the rest of the industry not able to join the conference. We feel that there is a lot to be learnt from the talks and that everyone in the industry should have access to the event.”
