Risk Of Adverse Deviation:

A concept used by life insurance enterprises in estimating the liability for future policy benefits relating to long-duration contracts. The risk of adverse deviation allows for possible unfavorable deviations from assumptions such as estimates of expected investment yield, mortality, morbidity, terminations and expenses.
